MindGarden: Week Fourteen in the Studio
This week marked a significant shift in the studio as I uninstalled my SpaceLab show and began preparing for my final critique. Taking down the work was bittersweet—it felt like closing a chapter while gearing up for the next one. Taking apart one display and reimagining another offered a moment of reflection. It was an opportunity to revisit the intentions behind each piece and ask myself how they’ve evolved throughout the semester.
Thankfully, I discovered a clever way to streamline the process. Instead of hauling all my pieces back up the hill to the studio, I managed to drive my car down the walking trail. This little logistical victory saved me a ton of effort and made the task much more manageable.
Once everything was safely back in the studio, I transitioned into building my "show" for the final critique. This stage was all about exploration—seeing how different pieces interact with each other and experimenting with arrangements that keep the concept and visuals cohesive.
It’s an exciting process, but also a challenging one. Each piece carries its own story, and the goal is to create a dialogue between them that enhances their individual strengths while contributing to the overall narrative. Some combinations immediately clicked, while others needed more tweaking, but that’s the beauty of this stage—it’s all about discovery.
With the final critique approaching, this week felt like a bridge—one foot in reflection and the other in preparation. The SpaceLab show may be over, but the lessons and momentum it provided continue to shape my process.
I’m excited to see how the final display comes together and how it will be received.
