Triumphs and Revelations: Week Six in the Studio
This week has been a crescendo in my studio practice, marked by the wet completion of the sculpture that has been evolving over the past entries. This week's endeavors have also paved the way for new ideas as I conducted tests with a wireless speaker, unraveling a symphony of echoes and thumps that extend beyond the confines of my creation.
Culmination:
I'm thrilled about the completion of the sculpture that has been at the heart of my recent endeavors. The final form encapsulates the essence of my vision, and the integration of the speaker has introduced a dynamic element, adding layers of auditory depth. It's fascinating to witness how the tangible and the auditory converge to create a truly immersive experience.
Pottery’s Purpose:
As I patiently await the next steps in perfecting this project, my mind has found solace and excitement in the start of a new endeavor. I've begun building a set of goblets. Drawing inspiration from French clowns, these vessels will not only explore the nuances of building techniques but also delve into the complex relationship between pottery and the potter.
Pierrot and Pots:
With this set of functional pots, I want to explore the differences in creating functional wares versus pure sculpture. The forthcoming goblets will embody the ambiguity and silhouette reminiscent of French clowns. I’m not sure what I’m looking for but I’m certain I will find it within new functional forms. And if I never find it, I can focus strictly on a sculptural practice.
A Pause and a Prelude:
As I pause to reflect on the completed sculpture and the promising tests with sound, I press on with the anticipation of crafting new functional wares. This week has been an exciting prelude to a new chapter in my creative narrative.
